Catholic Prayer Life is the blending together of many personal and
public styles of prayer. As a parish community, our prayer life is
very diverse and there are opportunities for everyone to pray together.
- Sunday Mass
- Sunday Mass is the focal point of Catholic prayer because it draws
together the entire community around the altar to celebrate the Lord's
Supper and to recognize the gift of Jesus Christ in the sacrament of
the Eucharist. Our parish is not as large as many others, but
our people come from various backgrounds and styles of worship.
Because of this, each of our Sunday Masses reflects a different style
of prayer. Our Saturday evening Mass is light-hearted and
easy-going--just the kind of thing young singles and working people
might like before going out on Saturday night or sleeping in on Sunday
morning. Our 8am English Mass is thoughtful and reflective, with
just the right amount of piety for those who like to pray silently
before Mass or to have time to reflect during Mass. Our 10:30am
English Mass is vibrant and friendly with a guitar choir and people
who enjoy visiting with one another before and after Mass. Our
Spanish Masses are energetic and Spirit-filled, charismatic in the
best sense of the word.
- Charismatic Prayer Groups (there
are 3)
- St. Aloysius is the home of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in
Spanish, and it shows. We have three charismatic groups
(Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays). The Thursday young people's
group meets in English and Spanish. The prayer is powerful and
Spiritual.
- Marcha Triunfal
- The Marcha Triunfal
- Legion of Mary (there are
3)
-
The Legions of Mary do more than just pray. Based on a
devotion to Mary's intercession for the Church, they reach out to the
fallen away Catholics, the sick, the needy, and those who are
spiritually wounded. Besides the prayer of their meetings, they
visit homes, prisons, hospices and the streets to reach out to people
in all walks of life. They are dedicated to evangelization and
healing. We have a Legion group in English, in Spanish, and one
for our young people.
- Guadalupanos
- Devoted to the relationship established by the apparition of Mary
at Tepeyac, this Spanish-speaking group promotes the Guadalupe
devotion and helps to build the parish life.
